Well here we go!

So I am excited to present my first blog to you!!

This blog is to share with you my journey as I prepare and then go back to Papua New Guinea (PNG).

I had the privilege of going there once before in 2007 when I was apart of an organization called Youth Encounter.  While I was there I feel in love with the people and the country.  After we left I felt like God was calling me back to PNG, I just wasn't sure in what way.  So I started doing some looking for organizations that work in PNG to see what I could find.  While we were there before we hear a little about an organization called Wycliffe Bible Translators, so I looked into them.  I found out about a program with them called ServeInPNG and looked into it a little, but for some reason didn't go any further with it.  I looked into other organizations and didn't seem to have any luck.  I started to question this calling that I felt that I had.   I wanted to make sure that this was God's will for me and not just my own desire.  I did a lot of praying and some more praying and then again some more praying.  I asked God if this is not Your will for me, please take this desire away from me.  Yet it didn't go away.  It seemed to me that God had a way of reassuring me that He hadn't forgot about me and this desire of mine. (In different ways PNG would be brought to my attention with out me trying.)  So through all of this God was teaching so much about how His timing is so much better them ours and even though it can be frustrating at times, being patient and waiting is so worth it.

So a couple months ago I looked into the ServeInPNG program again and decided to apply.  After a lot of paper work, a two hour phone interview and waiting for background check results to come back, on Monday April 18th, I found out I have been accepted.  Almost a week later and I feel like it still hasn't fully sunk in that I am going back.  Word really can't express how excited I am.

I probably won't be actually going until next summer, but that fact that I know I am going is enough for me.  I will have over a year to do some fundraising, take some language classes and just prepare in general.

I hope you will take this journey with me.
