They started by heading to Nashville and staying with my wonderful cousin. It had been quit awhile since I'd seen her so it was so great to get a chance to catch up. The next morning it was off to Orlando, Florida!! This was my first time in Florida, so I can now check it off my list of states that I still need to go to. I think it's down to 9 now with most of them being New England states.
The real reason that I was in Florida was to go to a training at the Wycliffe headquarters. The ServeInPNG program that I will be apart of is just one of the programs in the Global Service Program(GSP) with Wycliffe. It is required that all GSP members attend this training in Florida. They offer it a couple times a year. For this training we ended up having quit a small group, four total. However, we were able to get to know each other very well. Below you will see pictures of the headquarters sign and a picture of our group with the GSP staff.
Our week of training covered a lot of different areas. Some of them include: Spiritual Vitality, Principles of Translation, Partnership Development, Turning in employment forms and going over insurance, Moral Purity, Spiritual Warfare, Cross Cultural Communication and Team Dynamics. All the long preparing to give a presentation at the end of the week. I learned so much and had a lot of fun doing it!!! Below is a picture from one of our sessions.
After a wonderful week and then having dinner with a Youth Encounter friend, Sara Berge, I was off to Minnesota.
It was so great to be back in Minnesota, however it reminded me how much I miss it.
The first Sunday that I was there I gave a presentation at my former church. Again it was so great to be back and see everyone. I'm not the greatest at getting up in front of a lot of people and talking so I was a little nervous. However I think the preparation that we did the week before helped a lot, because once I got up there all my nerves went away. I think God has a lot to do with that too!!!
That night I was able to go to a fellow Wycliffe member's commissioning service. She is also serving in Papua New Guinea and she just got there a couple days ago. Check out her blog at: http://www.catherinepng.blogspot.com/.
The rest of the week I was helping with Debriefing for Youth Encounter. It was the end of the teams year of ministry so this was a time for them to come together and as the training is called, debrief the year. It was so great to see so many friends. I had the privilege of preparing the all the meals for them that week. At the end of the week there is a day called Homecoming. It is a day of celebration of the teams and the ministry of Youth Encounter. There were so many more friends that showed up for that!! It was so fun catching up with all of them!!!
God truly blessed me the last couple weeks!!!!
