Do we need that many, when so many have none?

I recently visited the local Christian bookstore in town.  As I was looking around at all of the things they had, I came apon the Bible section.  Along the whole whole back wall of the store are shelves apon shelves of Bibles.  I stood in amaze.  There was every size, color and shape you can imagine.  I counted about 30 different versions/translations including a princess one, one for guitar players, a Manga version and even a waterproof Bible.

Compare this scene (which is typical of many Christian bookstores) to the fact that around 340 million people speaking 2078 languages are still in need of a Bible translation in their language to begin.

This is where the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators and their sister organizations come into play.  I am so excited that I get to be part of helping just one of those people get the Word of God in their heart language.

But I can't get there alone.  I need your help both through prayer and finacial support.  Check out the Invitation to Partnership link on the right to find out how you can join my support team.

  1. I think the same thing when I see the shelves. Bibles have almost become a Christian fashion statement. Wouldn't it be cool if the Lord prompted everyone who was about to buy another Bible to give that money to support Bible translation instead? ;-) Great post!
