Lighting Martha

Even in such a humid climate, sometimes all you want is a hot shower.

However, here it takes a lot more then just turning the hot water nob in the shower. I would like to share with you the process that one must go through to obtain such a thing.

It all starts with lighting a fire. Every week two family unites are on “Martha” duty. I am on duty this week with another family. A fire is lit at 6:00am and 4:30pm every day.
This is Martha.
The amazing fire that I made.

This fire heats up the water that goes to the spout in the bathroom where you fill up a bucket.

Once the bucket is full, you then take it and fill the other bucket in the shower stall. Get in and shower, but hurry up because you only have about 4 minutes.

Oh, did I mention that the water for any shower comes from the nearby river?
