Wycliffe vs. Wickliffe

A little over a hour away from where I live is a town called Wickliffe, KY.  I had the chance to drive through it both to and from Arkansas a few weeks ago.  You pronounce it the same way you do Wycliffe.

One of the questions that I've gotten quit a few times is people asking how you pronounce Wycliffe.  Many of them state that they thought it was pronounced (Y-cliffe) and not (wick-liffe).

I try my best to correct them so that they are saying it correctly, but really it doesn't matter I guess.  Just as long as we know what we are talking about.

So what do you think, how do you think it is pronounced?
